Proboscis monkeys live in the coastal mangrove and along the Kinabatangan and Klias rivers, and the late-afternoon cruise is how most people look for them. They are wild animals on a wild river: guides know the roosting trees, but nothing here is guaranteed, and the boats keep their distance. Most of these trips carry on into dusk for the fireflies.
